REPRESENT YOURSELF IN THE FAMILY COURTS – Be Prepared. Be Ready. Be Confident.

Write a Witness Statement

Write a Witness Statement Simon Walland Family Law

You may notice that through the various hearings the court will gather information and attempt to find an agreement or solution that can be accepted  When all has failed, the court will reach  a point when they will list a Final Hearing.  At that hearing the court will hear what both sides have to say and then will impose a decision.

To help them manage the hearing they will need to have evidence from you.  Your Witness Statement is taken as your evidence along with anything else that you may want the cour tot tak einto account, and that will include voice recordings, photographs, videos, and in fact pretty much anything that will prove your arguments.

Therefore this document is critical.  It is your own opportunity to get your story heard and understood.  It shoul dnot be left to the last minute and it should be clear and logical to win the case.

Winning a court case is not necessarily about a detailed analysis of the facts but it often relies on the Judge being persuaded to agree with your point of view.  If you can provide the right evidence and say the right things in the right way the Judge is more likley to agree with what you say, and therefore make an order in your favour.
